All internal and external public areas were renovated at Sugar Beach Resort and Spa, a plantation style hotel in Mauritius, dominated by lawns and palm trees.
The swimming pools tie the public zones of the exterior together; an informal main pool and deck area interacts with both the main hotel restaurant and the beach restaurant and features a beach-entry detail providing an integrated beach experience. The second pool deck is more formal with an infinity-edge detail that visually links the pool to the sea. All decks are surfaced with Indian sandstone, and enhanced with designed furniture and exterior fittings. To reflect the character of the hotel tropical plants and a rich pallet of local materials have been used.
