OLD TOWN ISLAND, DOWNTOWN DUBAI

Old Town Island, a grand-scale, mixed-use development, combines residences with commercial offices and a retail souk (market). The majority of the development is over a super-basement which made hardworks detailing complex, and coordination with the design team challenging. The Arabic-style architecture uses characteristic sandstone and concrete contrasted with coloured, locally sourced tiles. The dramatic landscape incorporates cascading water features, intimate courtyards and august Date palms, lending shade and respite from the Middle Eastern sun. Microclimates have been developed in the smaller spaces, populated by lush, green foliage. Contrasting scale and colour lend vibrancy to this oasis while a range of bespoke site furnishings build character.
